About the contest
Miss Ukrainian New Jersey
Miss Ukrainian New Jersey is an artistic contest that promotes Ukrainian art, culture, and history through the intellect, achievements, talents and personal qualities of Ukrainian participants that are living, working or studying in the state of New Jersey.
For the participants, this competition is not only an opportunity to be in the shining light on stage, and not only about winning. It is an opportunity to meet many people, make new friends, attend workshops, and gain an unforgettable experience.
Our objectives
Why we do it
Volunteering & charityTo promote the ideas of volunteering and charity — fundraising for the humanitarian, cultural, and educational projects of the UNWLA.
A meeting placeFor talented, intelligent girls conscious of their origin and heritage, motivated to make the world a better place.
Role modelsA chance to show their best qualities and become role models for younger girls — the ideals of spiritual and physical beauty.
Ukrainian cultureTo make the Grand Finale a celebration of Ukrainian culture and the modern Ukrainian way of life among Americans.
Mission & organizers
UNWLA Branch 137
The contest’s mission is based on a holistic approach to the personality: the organizers, the 137th branch of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, present the image of a modern young Ukrainian woman who harmoniously combines the beauty of the soul and the body with intellect, work ethic, and proactive compassion.
Founded by emigrant women from Ukraine in 1925, the UNWLA informs the free world about events in Ukraine, helps her morally and materially, and preserves Ukrainian identity, culture, and artistic heritage.
A not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization run exclusively by volunteers, with 100% of its donations directed to people in need and to educational and cultural projects.
